Location: Calgary, AB, CA, T2P 2H7Job Field: CommercialPhillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future The Market Analyst, Crude provides commodity market fundamentals, short/medium term supply/demand analysis, and trader support for the Global supply and trading functions. In addition, this position will support ad hoc requests from Commercial Senior Management, Commercial groups, Chief Economist, and Investor Relations. Responsibilities may includeDeveloping a comprehensive understanding of commodity trading, including key supply/demand regions, logistics assets, storage facilities, and financial instruments used to hedge positions in these markets. An understanding of key trading strategies is crucial for success.Performing market analysis to develop and support business objectives, specifically:Developing and maintaining supply and demand models. This will involve working closely with trading to understand the market and trends, incorporate downtime, seasonal cycles, macroeconomic variables and utilize import/export data to ensure the models are accurate and accepted by tradingIdentify market anomalies and communicate to trading on what physical market and forward market changes might occurPerforming actual and projected tariff analysis and alternate logistical cost comparisonsPerforming project economic modelling & analysis as requiredSupporting strategy development work for Supply and Trading groups as requiredWorking with global Supply/Trading Commercial Development and Market Analysis & Strategy staffs in Houston to leverage resources/skills, share best practices and provide a global perspective on analysisLeading ad-hoc projects and analysis around market fundamentals (including infrastructure changes) to support trade ideasWorking with 3rd party consultants and brokers to understand and evaluate their views on commodity movements and factor those into development of P66 market view Required QualificationsLegally authorized to work in job posting countryBachelors degree or equivalent accreditation2 or more years of experience in the energy industry or commodity tradingProficient economic analysis, data management, modelling and/or investment appraisal skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications3 or more years of commercial supply and trading experience in the crude market or 3 or more years of commercial supply and trading experienceTechnical background (i.e., process engineering) would be beneficialWorking programming knowledge of Visual Basic, Python, SQL, Tableau and/or RWorking knowledge of statistical modeling software, SQL or other database software, and economic model developmentSelf-starter with high degree of personal drive and initiativeStrong written, oral communication and presentation skillsExtremely reliable and thorough with proven organizational skills and attention to detailStrong problem-solving skills, with ability to work in high pressured environment on a broad range of activities and to prioritize workload to meet challenging deadlinesStrong willingness and ability to support internal customers in business requirements and ability to network effectively to achieve goalsCollaborative team player with ability to work constructively within a close and often demanding teamworking environmentCapable of gaining consensus and trust across multiple functional areas within, and external to, Commercial to build a common vision and direction At Phillips 66, while 'what' we do may be very different from person to person, there's a 'how' that connects all of us.
