Design Strategy at Gensler focuses on enabling transformation through a collaborative approach, supported by data and intelligence to transform clients organizations, culture, and environments. Our multidisciplinary team applies research tools and methodologies to solve problems related to space, people, operations, finance, and technology. Our Toronto practice is growing, and we are looking for Design Analysts to focus on workplace strategy, real estate portfolio strategy, change management, and design guidelines. We are seeking emerging leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit to help develop client relationships and evolve our practice. We are primarily focused on defining hybrid strategies and developing holistic experiences for a range of organizations such as major corporations, healthcare providers, cultural institutions, developers, and universities. Your Role As an Analyst, you will be a core member of multi-disciplinary teams working with a wide range of clients across industries to evaluate current conditions, define goals, and develop integrated strategies for how environment, technology, policies, and services can support objectives. Your work will span from pilot projects to global strategies and programs. You will support user research activities, synthesize data and feedback into meaningful insights, and develop innovative future state concepts and solutions with your project team. What You Will Do Collaboratively plan and perform user research and data collection activities Design and support engaging workshops with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources to determine impact on business goals, organizational culture, or performance criteria for spatial design Synthesize information and data into relevant findings told through presentations, reports, posters, videos, websites, etc. Develop compelling content that enables clients to visualize and understand the benefits and implications of strategies and recommendations, such as impact on space supply and occupancy demand data, business goals, and organizational culture Articulate and represent scenarios with plans, data, feedback, and precedents to illustrate a range of relevant solutions (e.g., design concepts, work styles, program, service models) that meet client objectives and communicate tradeoffs Define and develop concepts and prototypes of experiences, programs, services, and spaces to test with users and stakeholders Support the interface with Gensler design studios to ensure a seamless transition of design strategy into the design implementation phase Who You Are You are passionate about the built environment and its impact on individuals and organizations You are a self-starter and quick learner You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with fast iterations and pivoting between collaborative and individual work You can work on multiple projects simultaneously You are a clear communicator and presenter of ideas, findings, and/or point of view You are an enthusiastic collaborator who can work with a range of other disciplines You are a critical and creative thinker You respond proactively and thoughtfully to design critique and feedback from clients and colleagues You are familiar with research methodologies and activities, with both qualitative and quantitative data You can graphically visualize information and effectively use charts, graphics, and design concepts to communicate findings You are a strong and persuasive writer, able to clearly describe work processes, options, findings, and recommendations You can create powerful narratives with strong written, visual, and graphic content Your Qualifications 2+ years of relevant professional experience and an undergraduate or masters degree in architecture, interior design, environmental design, urban design, real estate, design strategy, organizational development, organizational psychology, or similar fields Background in the design of the built environment Strong portfolio demonstrating command of fundamental communication design including composition, information graphics, and persuasive writing Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign required) and Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and other visual communication tools Fluency with digital collaboration tools such as Miro, Mural, Microsoft Teams Familiarity with design software such as Revit and AutoCAD is a plus Familiarity with website development software/languages (e.g., Readymag, Squarespace) is a plus Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools such as InVision, Sketch, and Adobe XD is a plus To be considered please include 2-3 project examples and a cover letter as part of your submission.
