Location: Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB. Position Overview Reporting to the Lead Physical Plant Services, the Engineer 5th Class is responsible for monitoring and maintaining building and medical related systems and associated equipment in a 5th class plant. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods, and actions on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Southern HealthSant Sud. Experience Minimum two (2) years experience working in a maintenance position. Previous experience working with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, or airconditioning. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Power Engineering 5th Class Certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba. Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensure/Registration Not Applicable. Qualifications And Skills Knowledge and understanding of associated equipment and systems in a 5th class plant. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals. Understanding of various types of mechanical equipment and their functions. Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of yard care equipment. Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs. Basic safe work legislation and practices. Fire Codes and C.S.A. standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, provide a high level of attention to detail, work in a fast-paced environment, write and speak professionally, solve problems, exercise independent judgment, respect a culturally diverse population, prioritize tasks, build professional relationships, work independently or as part of a team, perform calculations, and maintain confidentiality. Requires a valid Class 5 drivers license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000. Physical Requirements Meet the physical and mental demands of the job. Work in a variety of temperatures, including excessive heat or cold. May work with hazardous chemicals. May be required on call evenings and weekends; respond to the facility within 20 minutes when on call. May be required to travel to other regional facilities.
