To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What Youll be Doing CIBC Private Wealths Investment Strategy Group (ISG) focuses on managing the Investment Strategy Committee (ISC) Portfolios. It also acts as a trusted investment resource for CIBC Wood Gundys investment advisors by providing timely and insightful advice to CIBC Wood Gundys Investment Advisors on North American equities, fixed income and preferred shares directly or through the ISGs conference calls and publications. This role is for a qualified individual with a demonstrated interest in the financial markets who is interested in a career in wealth management. The Manager, Investment Strategy will play a pivotal role within the ISG at CIBC Private Wealth. This position is responsible for delivering operational and administrative support in portfolio management activities including portfolio reconciliation, maintaining trade calculators and providing support in the execution of ISC Portfolio trades. The role also involves generating content for our publications and providing timely responses to Investment Advisors inquiries and requests. Additionally, the role involves providing research coverage for a designated North American equity sector, using existing research partnerships to generate timely, fundamentally driven investment ideas for the ISC Portfolios. These efforts directly contribute to our commitment to delivering consistent, competitive risk-adjusted performance for our clients. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with strong multitasking capabilities and time management skills. Responsibilities include offering informed advice and insights on equities to CIBC Wood Gundy investment advisors, backed by thorough research and an in-depth understanding of financial markets. These recommendations are designed to assist advisors and their clients in achieving their investment objectives. This individual will share insights both directly with investment advisors and through written contributions to ISG publications. Success in this role requires the ability to perform efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced, and time-sensitive environment. How Youll Succeed Operational support and advice - Contribute or lead administrative processes by attending to Investment Advisor inquiries in a timely manner, maintaining and updating spreadsheets and marketing presentations, updating web-based content and responding promptly to ad-hoc requests. Publications - Participate in the production of the ISGs daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly publications and contributing content as needed regarding the financial markets and individual equities. Business expertise - Conduct research and analysis on a variety of North American equities and contribute fundamental investment ideas to the ISC investment process. Provide timely investment advice and commentary for CIBC Wood Gundys investment advisors. Relationship management Maintain internal contact with CIBC Wood Gundys investment advisors and other CIBC departments including equity research, operations and technology. Who You Are You hold a university degree in business or a related discipline. You have a keen interest in the financial markets as demonstrated by having enrolled in or having successfully completed the CFA program. Direct experience in equity analysis and prior experience working within the Canadian wealth management industry is an asset. You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize financial market activities clearly and concisely. Advanced technical knowledge - You are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel applications; you have strong working knowledge of Bloomberg and/or FactSet. Computer programming skills would be an asset. Strong work ethic - You are reliable and can multi-task; you work hard, learn quickly and are able to function well as a member of a team.
