Overview The Government of Alberta is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to join the Policy, Governance and Legislative Services (PGaLS) branch within Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction. The role focuses on shaping legislation and policy that impact Albertans and contributing to strategic policy development and engagement with stakeholders. Location: Edmonton; Status: Permanent (2 positions); Hours: 36.25 hours per week; Classification: Program Services 4; Salary: $3,056.50 to $4,006.62 bi-weekly ($79,774 - $104,572/year). Closing Date: November 6, 2025. Responsibilities Lead strategic policy and legislative initiatives, ensuring alignment with ministry priorities and Cabinet expectations. Develop high-impact briefing materials, including Cabinet Reports, presentations, and speaking notes. Collaborate across divisions and with senior leadership to negotiate deliverables under tight timelines. Identify emerging policy issues and proactively develop solutions that support ministry and stakeholder interests. Guide program areas in creating work plans that meet legislative and departmental timelines. Provide expert analysis and recommendations to inform decision-making. Facilitate policy capacity-building workshops for ministry staff. Qualifications University graduation in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related degree, supplemented by at least four years of related experience; or equivalent as described below. Related Experience: Working in policy development in any level of government. Working with and providing support to a large number of stakeholders. Analyzing and interpreting legislation. Equivalencies will be considered: one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education. The following will be considered assets: Experience working in strategic policy or legislation development. Working knowledge of the process by which legislation is enacted in Alberta. Experience leading and supporting multi-divisional strategic policy projects. Creating reports and other briefing materials meant to provide strategic insights for Cabinet. Working knowledge interpreting and implementing the Policy Cycle. Experience interacting and working with senior leadership, Assistant Deputy Ministers, Deputy Ministers.
