We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in building mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in HVAC, plumbing & drainage, and fire protection systems, along with a strong working knowledge of process engineering systems such as compressed air and fueling systems. In addition, in-depth familiarity with Alberta building code, National building code, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards is required. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and overseeing complex mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the worlds most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us. Role Accountabilities: Oversee and manage the mechanical engineering team Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and lead the design and implementation of mechanical and process systems for building projects Coordinate with architectural team and other engineering disciplines, and actively participate in project planning and budgeting Design and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, process ventilation, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls and building automation systems Engineer industrial systems such as compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems, as well as service connections for machine installations Conceptualize and prepare mechanical layouts and express design intent through concept drawings or sketches Analyze heating and cooling loads using computerized methods Develop and write engineering study reports Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards during design development, and coordinate with the energy analysis team for compliance with energy standards Take responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, and review and approve technical documentation Conduct quality assurance checks, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement within the engineering team Develop man-hours for proposal estimates, deliver technical presentations to clients, and expand business with current and new clients Coordinate staffing needs for projects and provide technical training and education to staff Engage with engineering societies Qualifications & Experience: Possess over 15 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial and transit facilities, with a strong background in automotive facilities being an asset Hold a professional engineering license (P.Eng.) and have a comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD MEP, MicroStation, Revit, 3D software, and related tools Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills for effective internal and client interactions Exhibit the ability to organize and manage multiple project assignments Have the aptitude to provide leadership to teams of engineers and designers on projects Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship Show proven experience in collaborating with clients, contractors, and other consultants Possess an excellent understanding of the Alberta Building Code, Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, ASHRAE standards Familiar with TSSA Fuel & Pressure vessel codes, and industrial ventilation standards, among other relevant industrial standards Arcadis is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
