The Role As an Energy Operations Manager at HCE, you will play a pivotal role in directing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our cutting-edge district energy systems. You will lead our operations team to deliver exceptional energy services to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and environmental sustainability. Responsibilities Lead and develop the Energy Operations team, ensuring compliance with company safety programs and fostering a culture of continuous improvement Direct all aspects of plant operations including hot water, steam, power generation, and cooling systems to deliver contracted customer services Develop and implement comprehensive asset management plans including preventative maintenance programs and disaster response strategies Act as the primary escalation point for customer contact, demonstrating exceptional service and building strong relationships with existing and potential clients Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including TSSA, ESA, IESO, MOL, and MOE standards Coordinate and manage contractors while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and maintenance Provide strategic input on annual Operating and Capital Plans while operating within budgetary constraints Preferred Experience 10+ years of experience in Industrial Heating/Cooling, Utility, and/or Power Generation fields Third or Second Class Operating Engineers Certificates Ontario trade certifications including Gas Fitter (G3, G2, or G1) through the TSSA or Electrical licenses through the ESA Experience in design and construction of district heating and cooling systems Proven leadership experience with operations and maintenance teams with demonstrated knowledge of boilers, generators, refrigeration systems, and distribution networks Strong background in preventative maintenance programs, health & safety regulations, and regulatory compliance Experience managing teams, including performance management and conflict resolution Proficiency with computer applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and maintenance management systems Qualifications Competency as defined by OHSA and Regulations Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and negotiation abilities Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure Flexibility to work in various environments from office to plant floor, including temperature extremes and high-noise environments Availability for after-hours emergency calls and occasional travel to remote sites Why Join Us?
