Job Title: Python Developer Market Data Location: Toronto, ON Employment Type: Full-time Employment Work Arrangement: Hybrid 2-3 days in office About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python, data platforms, and financial markets. The successful candidate will build and maintain systems that manage the ingestion, storage, and delivery of market and pricing data, as well as develop APIs, applications, and analytical tools to support frontoffice, middleoffice, and operations teams. This position involves direct collaboration with business users such as traders and analysts; strong communication skills and a solid understanding of financial data workflows are essential. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain systems for market and pricing data ingestion, processing, and distribution. Build scalable data processing pipelines using Python (Pandas, FastAPI) and SQL (PostgreSQL, Amazon Athena). Develop APIs and data services to support analytical and trading applications. Work with Kafka for streaming and messaging between data systems. Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver efficient technical solutions. Deploy, monitor, and optimize solutions in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Build and maintain tools, dashboards, and reports for data visualization and delivery. Required Qualifications Strong proficiency in Python, especially with Pandas and FastAPI. Advanced SQL skills with databases such as PostgreSQL or Amazon Athena. Handson experience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Prior experience in financial or trading environments, preferably in commodities markets. Proven ability to work directly with businessside users (e.g., traders, analysts, or operations). Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Nice to Have Intermediate or higher experience with C#. Experience working with realtime market or tick data.
