Position Overview Senior Writer (Copy Editor) (English Services) (OnSite) at CBC/RadioCanada. This is a permanent, fulltime position that requires an onsite presence in either Manitoba or Saskatchewan. The role reports to the senior producer of digital. Responsibilities Copy edit breaking, enterprise, and feature news content, as well as multimedia projects, newsletters, social media copy and videorelated content. Collaborate with writers and editors to ensure content meets high editorial standards, including accuracy, structure, story flow, context, and consistency in style. Write compelling headlines that drive audience interest and engagement. Quickly write breaking news and curate website lineups as needed. Build and package digital stories with best videos, links and photos. Monitor news developments to maintain CBC Manitoba and Saskatchewan website content that reflects the latest news and varied content of interest to audiences. Provide coaching and feedback to help journalists and freelancers develop their skills. Assist in communicating digital news best practices. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in a fastpaced, daily multiplatform news environment. Strong journalistic and critical thinking skills, including knowledge of CBCs Journalistic Standards and Practices and the legal and ethical issues related to journalism. Ability to manage and organise large volumes of fastmoving information. Substantial experience in copy editing content for digital and social platforms, including factchecking and packaging. Advanced knowledge of web, mobile and social media tools. Deep knowledge of Canadian Press style (CBCNews.ca style is an asset). Superior communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Highenergy leader with a positive, teamfirst attitude and a proven ability to motivate and coach teams, encouraging creativity. Proven connection to the communities served in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and a deep, nuanced understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Keen desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive, respectful work culture. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as required. Valid drivers licence and driving record that meet CBC/RadioCanadas insurance company minimum requirements.
