About the role Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this role is responsible for planning and implementing large, sensitive and complex capital projects as part of the 10-year Capital program; providing project management services for environmental assessments and the design and construction of storm sewers, water and wastewater treatment plans, pump stations, force mains, water supply, storage and water mains, and sanitary sewers; representing the Branch on corporate initiatives and leading teams in Branch process management and initiatives. What youll be doing Act as the Regions lead for the delivery of each capital project. Manage large, sensitive and complex projects including Class Environmental Assessments (Class EA), design, construction, and commissioning to ensure compliance with Region requirements, timing and budget. Prepare detailed estimates of project costs and assist with capital forecasts and reports. Participate in branch planning and strategic initiatives for service improvements. Participate in the development and maintenance of procedures, guidelines and templates. Assist with the preparation of the 10-year capital plan. Supervise and assign work, act as the project lead for complex capital projects and initiatives. Identify self-training and development needs and participate in appropriate training programs. Conform to Quality control and Quality Assurance program for project management services. Conform to design guidelines for capital infrastructure and assist with the maintenance of the design standards. Maintain working relationships with stakeholders including the public, Council, developers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, other municipalities and Region staff. Pro-actively develop relationships with stakeholders including the consultant industry to ensure quality, cost-effective professional services. What were looking for Successful completion of a University Degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario. Minimum of five (5) years of experience (inclusive of E.I.T. experience) in storm sewer, water or wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, force mains, water supply, storage, watermain or sanitary sewer projects/design, with demonstrated commitment to design quality and process as well as complex project management experience and at least two (2) years of direct supervisory experience. A valid Ontario Class G drivers license and reliable vehicle for corporate use. Leadership competencies including strategic thinking, leveraging diversity, customer focus, accountability, problem solving, financial management, effective communication, collaboration, engagement, talent development, trust, self-awareness, and resiliency. Contemporary supervisory and human resource management skills, knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation. Computer literacy with MS Office applications in a Windows environment. Ability to work outside of normal business hours as required.
