Position responsibilities Review and approve utility crossings while administering permits and agreements Carry out site inspections to ensure installations meet regulatory compliance and safety standards Task a CPKC Engineering service provider to supervise geotechnical installations and collaborate on pre-construction planning Serve as primary contact for emergencies related to utility installation, property access, utility-related incidents such as watermain breaks and gas leaks Deliver rotating emergency on-call support to maintain uninterrupted operational coverage across the network Manage right-of-entry permits and issue agreements for surveying, geotechnical investigations, and heavy equipment use within railway right-of-way Maintain customer accounts and billing data in SAP including updates and coding for invoicing Respond promptly to applicant inquiries and coordinate with Legal and Risk Management to ensure compliance with all insurance and permitting requirements Screen, manage, and prioritize third-party utility requests received through the portal Position requirements Civil Engineer Technician or equivalent engineering diploma credentials Minimum of three (3) years experience in utilities management; preference given to candidates with background in gas, hydro, or telecommunications sectors Valid drivers license required Valid passport and ability to travel freely between the U.S. and Canada Fluency in both English and French, with strong oral and written communication skills Proven planning, organizational, and negotiation abilities Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment with effective multitasking skills Proficient in SAP, Excel, AutoCAD, and other relevant computer applications What CPKC has to offer Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Performance incentive plan Annual fitness subsidy Part-time studies program Pre-employment requirements Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety critical/safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
