Discover The Opportunity: Under the general direction of the Senior Director Project Delivery the Project Director Healthcare Infrastructure is accountable for concept development, technical oversight, coordination across disciplines, project integration and compliance management for the design components of healthcare infrastructure projects primarily focused in Central Zone, Nova Scotia, though can provide support across the province. The Project Director Healthcare Infrastructure works with the Clinical Planning, Clinical Equipment, ICAT / IMIT and Shared Technical Services Director to ensure successful delivery of all Province activities related to Design throughout the project lifecycle to ensure achievement of the project schedule and final completion of new and renovated spaces. What youll do Lead the technical development component of healthcare infrastructure projects translating project goals into technical concepts, including design, and stewarding the projects resources (internal and external) to complete all requirements of the design phase of a project. Manage relationships with various teams and stakeholders to mitigate project risks and ensure all project objectives are achieved. Build and maintain effective relationships as the primary design contact with other workstream leads, various stakeholder groups and external advisors and consultants. Lead the technical components of the procurement process of healthcare projects including the technical evaluation of RFQ and RFP responses. Coordinate Province Design Reviews within prescribed timelines and against any requirements or checklists. Consolidate all Province team input into a formal response and serve as final reviewer for all designrelated feedback from the Province to vendors. Lead the development and maintenance of the technical components of integrated project plans for each project within the assigned portfolio, including scope, budget and schedule, to ensure project objectives are realized efficiently. Actively and regularly communicate with the integrated project team when changes arise to technical components of the project, including design activities within the project schedule that impact other project activities. Monitor project deliverables and provide direction to Project Managers and Project Coordinators as well as integrated project team members when required to maintain strong alignment regarding the project schedule, upcoming activities and risk management. Manage and oversee assigned project staff pursuant to Build NS human resource. Meet at least once per week with direct reports to ensure strong visibility to priority deliverables, provide support and removal of barriers and continued alignment to overall project scope. Manage technical project risks related to design by contributing to risk registers for each project within the assigned portfolio and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies to Senior Leadership. For PrivatePublic Partnership (P3) projects review and provide comments on the monthly Project Co Works Report, including the Progress Works Schedule, the PDC Progress report and Independent Certifier progress reports. In conjunction with the Clinical Planning Directors assess if the construction delivery of a new or renovated space is meeting the design intent for the space. This will include inperson walkabouts and reporting of suspected deficient construction and commissioning outcomes to Director Construction Management (and PDC for P3 projects). Assist with the recruitment and hiring of key project staff; recommend hiring and removal from positions as may be required from time to time and assist in determining the professional development of reporting staff. What youll need Qualifications As the ideal candidate you have a postsecondary degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or another relevant discipline, along with ten (10) plus years of progressive experience in a leadership role in construction operations or project management. Preference is given to those who are actively registered as a Full Member with Engineers Nova Scotia (ENS). Resultsoriented leadership with a proven ability to create alignment across various business units, effectively manage diverse teams of project consultants, specialists and contractors, and develop highperformance project teams across multiple locations. Proven track record in strategic planning, operations and budget management, project scheduling, and the development and implementation of best practices in project management. Strong knowledge of relevant legal matters, legislation, regulations, standards and codes, with the capability to manage evolving demands and priorities inherent within large complex construction projects. Proficiency in developing metrics and reporting structures to effectively measure and report on project performance, ensuring communications with a wide array of stakeholders are consistent and seamless.
