Steam Plant Operator II (Temporary) Two Positions Join to apply for the Steam Plant Operator II role at TransAlta. About The Role We are currently seeking two (2) Steam Plant Operator IIs to join the team at our Sheerness Generation Station. Employees assist with the safe operation of the plant, including checking the operation, performance, and condition of plant equipment and processes, and assigned maintenance and cleanup duties. This is a fulltime, temporary, safetysensitive position based out of our Sheerness Generation Station in Hanna, Alberta. This position is administered under the CEWA Job Posting provisions. Responsibilities Perform routine rounds throughout the plant to ensure safe and efficient operation by conducting equipment checks (daily, weekly, monthly) including checking oil levels, bearing temperatures, and gear cases of plant equipment. Perform cleaning duties as required or as assigned. Perform routine inspection of natural gas regulating station, inline gas heater, glycol heat exchangers. Conduct boiler water tests, report abnormal values, and retest after corrective action; record all values and actions on daily log sheets. Monitor water treatment plant processes and systems; perform water boiler tests and review daily. Monitor process conditions and equipment to ensure compliance with station approvals; report/document any violations to senior staff. Isolate equipment and assist with the preparation of permits; identify hazards and complete hazard assessment documentation. Perform minor maintenance duties as assigned and work with the maintenance department as required. Participate in tailboard meetings and provide information to senior operators regarding equipment status or hazards. Participate in all training activities and complete them on time to demonstrate required competency. Adhere to safe work practices and support/participate in emergency response activities at the station. Provide support, assistance, and onjob training to new/junior operators. About You Completion of Grade XII, including a pass standing in Math 20, Physics 20 (preference toward Physics 30), English 30 and another 30level course with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience. Completion of a twoyear Power Engineering Technology Program with six (6) months of related experience. A valid 3rd Class Power Engineers Certificate of Competency.
