Date Posted: 10/28/2025 Req ID: 45072 Faculty/Division: UofT Mississauga Department: UTM: Facilities, Management & Planning Campus: University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Description Under general direction, schedules the maintenance of landscape and snow removal operations, including maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for landscape equipment and vehicles; leads, directs, trains and works with a group of grounds staff. Typical Duties (a) installs and maintains hard and soft landscape, including cultivated and natural environments; monitors and maintains an integrated pest management program and quality assurance program (b) ensures maintenance of landscape irrigation and other landscape related systems; (c) plans, schedules, monitors and performs the maintenance and repairs of landscape, landscape equipment and vehicles; (d) leads, directs and trains a group of grounds staff in the maintenance of the landscape, vehicles and equipment and the clearing of ice and snow; (e) organizes daily schedule for self and grounds staff and informs supervisor of staff hours and absences; (f) may perform duties of Landscape Technician I and II; (g) plans and oversees the planting and maintenance of flowers, shrubs and seeding of grass; (h) drives and operates a variety of landscape and snow removal vehicles; and (i) other related duties as required Qualifications Education: A graduate of a recognized Community College Horticultural program or equivalent, including the completion of the Universitys horticulture apprentice program or in the opinion of the Employer has the equivalent in an educational requirement from a recognized certificate program(s), such as the Canadian Nurseries Trades Association program. Experience: Seven years of general landscape and vehicle maintenance experience. Other: Possession of valid Provincial Class 'G' driver's license, (may be required to possess Provincial Class 'D' or DZ' driver's license) possession of current pesticide spraying license; mechanical ability, chainsaw operators certificate, well versed in plant health care programs and natural pesticide programs, physical ability to perform required duties, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written), ability to lead, direct and train others; ability to work under all weather conditions and may be required to work long and varied hours. Schedule May-October: Sunday: 8:00AM 4:30PM, Monday Thursday: 10:30AM 7:00PM November-April: Sunday: 8:00AM 4:30PM, Monday Thursday: 12:00PM 8:30PM NOTE: Must be available to be On Call during the winter months for snow removal operations in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
