Your Opportunity: Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre has an opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As an LPN at our rural hospital, you will work in various areas, including a 10-bed ER, a 19-bed acute care unit, a 10-bed Goal (Goal-oriented active living) unit, and our busy labor and delivery area. You will be a vital part of our collaborative healthcare team. Previous experience is valuable for transitioning to the Rural Nurse role; however, mentorship and education opportunities will be provided to increase your competence and confidence. You are expected to provide safe, competent care to our patients in a collaborative, family-centered approach. Flexibility to work across different hospital areas is essential, as priorities change rapidly. Ponoka, meaning Elk in Blackfoot, serves a large First Nations community. Description: As an LPN, you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Guided by your education, experience, and AHS policies, you will play a key role in providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHSs shared vision and values. Classification: Licensed Practical Nurse Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Unit 1, Unit 2, and ER Primary Location: Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre FTE: 0.73 Posting End Date: 05-SEP-2025 Availability: Starting 15-SEP-2025, temporary position ending 30-SEP-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Salary Range: $27.58 - $36.13 Requirements: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program Active or eligible registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) Additional Qualifications: CTAS certification in the last 2 years Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Neonatal Resuscitation Program CAM-A, CAM-B, Lead 2 Preferred Qualifications: Same as additional qualifications listed above.
