Overview Our client is looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator looking for a growth opportunity! The role is to work across a number of their privately owned manufacturing companies. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this newly created opportunity will require an individual who is a natural self starter with solid understanding of environmental, health and safety in the heavy manufacturing environment. This role will require some flexibility to travel to various sites. Best suited to an individual who lives in the Niagara / St. Catharines or Hamilton area as primary work locale will be St. Catharines as you will be responsible for managing all functions of EH&S for St. Catharines, Grimsby and Elmira locations policies and procedures, including the maintenance and assurance for safe operating conditions of all plant equipment. Participate in various new project developments. Our Client : Our client, a reputable and highly successful private capital corporation, is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for one of their Manufacturing Divisions who will work closely with the EHS Manager responsible for assisting with the overall environmental, health & safety of several of its company's manufacturing assets, including buildings, equipment, and grounds. What will you do Assists the Corporations various plant environmental, health & safety processes. Assists in the development and execution of procedures for compliance with provincial, state and federal environmental and safety and health standards, and audits and other compliance initiatives. Interprets / explains / adapts corporate policies and procedures and assists plant staff in policy implementation. Monitors facilities for workplace hazards, leads the incident investigation process, and drives continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance. Participates with management in the workers compensation and return to work process. Helps to manage the medical surveillance and qualification process. Can help to provide effective training and education. Maintains required documentation and reviews periodically to ensure the documentation adds value. Supports with ISO14001 and WSIB compliance matters. With the Manager, reviews / inspects operations periodically and maintains presence as required. Helps to lead the continuous improvement process for risk reduction. Establish trusting, psychologically safe relationships with managers, supervisors, and the hourly workforce. Ensures environmental requirements are adhered to. This includes tasks such as periodic training, drills, corrective action team involvement, etc. With the Managers direction and guidance acts as the facilitys environmental expert and emergency response leader. As directed you will collaborate with Maintenance or Plant Managers or other management team members on sustainability initiatives. What you will do Can provide solid critical thinking, participative management and project management. Solid understanding of provincial, state and federal environmental, health & safety regulations. Support the Manager in conducting industrial hygiene surveys such as sampling for air contaminants and noise. In conjunction with the Manager facilitate process improvement projects to reduce risk. Ability to guide teams in the incident learning process. Ability to customize safe operating procedures through interaction with affected work groups. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with employees, line management and upper management, support functions within the company and members of the community such as local emergency response personnel. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Desire to learn manufacturing processes and be involved in improvement activities other than those related to safety. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelors degree in environmental, safety & occupational health or other related discipline. (May substitute equivalent demonstrated competency). 3-5 years Environmental, Health & Safety process experience, heavy manufacturing preferred Air exchange / filtration experience is an asset. Foundry safety experience is also a plus. Environmental compliance / response experience is favorable. A track record of proactively implementing successful environmental, health & safety initiatives. Experience with and / or working knowledge of human and organizational performance is a plus.
