Accountabilities : How You Will Make an Impact As part of our growing engineering team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical design engineering tasks both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclearpowered systems. The successful candidate will be working within a multidiscipline engineering team mainly supporting the Engineering design team located at Kinectrics East office in Saint John, New Brunswick. To deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows : Provide electrical power distribution engineering analysis for new and existing nuclear power plants and designs including advanced reactors. Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators and other power plant equipment. Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs. Perform engineering design and analysis following established Engineering design and change control procedures. Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable and electrical equipment selection. Interface with construction / procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and closeout) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. Provide field support for design and design modifications, including provision of field engineering. Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting / engineering to support new build projects and existing operating units. Interface effectively with other staff on multidisciplinary design and technical projects. Stay current with developments within their field of expertise. Other duties as assigned. What You Need to Succeed Bachelors Degree in Electrical / I&C Engineering Minimum of 5 years experience in electrical design engineering Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades including necessary system protection / system stability and relaying Experience in performing condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators and other power plant equipment In depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants. Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of the life cycle management of electrical equipment. Familiarity with rigorous engineering change control processes and application of QA programs. Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design / operation related to Nuclear power plants, skidbased designs, or international power projects. Experience with Small Modular Reactor or Advance Reactor designs is an asset. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality. Excellent problemsolving skills. Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions. Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation. Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of customers. A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is considered necessary.
