Experienced General Practice Administrator The closing date is 28 September 2025 On 1st August 2025, Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative, your local not-for-profit GP federation, will begin supporting the patients of Coniston for a 12 month period, while a longer term provider is secured. The surgery is open 5 days a week, with no lone working at any time. Your working hours will be between 08:00 and 18:30, Monday to Friday. We are looking for a part-time Administrator to join our team. You will be the welcoming face of the practice, helping patients feel supported from the moment they walk in. Youll be answering phones, booking appointments, signposting patients, and ensuring smooth front desk operations. No NHS experience? Thats okay. Job responsibilities We are looking to recruit an experienced General Practice Administrator to work as part of a team providing a full administrative service. To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties include greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, and liaise with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers. Key requirements of the role: The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requests appropriately Signpost patients to the correct service Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies Code data on the clinical IT system Photocopy documentation as required Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary Direct requests for information to the administrative team (e.g., SAR, letters from insurance solicitors, DVLA forms) Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner Carry out system searches as requested Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested Confidentiality In the performance of the duties outlined, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients, carers, and other healthcare workers. All such information must be treated as strictly confidential and disclosed only in accordance with MBPCC policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal data.
