Reporting to the Service Advisor/Garage Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of municipal vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining shop equipment and tools, completing detailed work orders, providing mechanical advice, and training apprentices. This position may require occasional overtime due to operational needs. Required Qualifications Interprovincial (Red Seal) and/or Nunavut Heavy Duty Mechanic certification Class 3 License with Airbrake Endorsement Four years experience with heavy trucks, equipment, and automotive systems including fuel injection Knowledge of mechanical trades Experience with welding and body work Organizational skills for records and inventory management Skilled driving abilities for heavy equipment operation Ability to work cooperatively in a team Assets include bilingual English and Inuktitut skills, northern experience, and relevant education and experience combinations.
