Title General Accountant Reports to Accounting Manager Based at : 135 Michael Cowpland Drive, Suite 110 Job purpose The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records by managing daytoday accounting functions, with a primary focus on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and monthend closing activities. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards, improves financial accuracy, and provides key data for business decisionmaking. The position plays a critical role in ensuring smooth financial operations within a fastpaced IT reseller environment. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable (AR) Generate and issue customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor order tracking stages to determine when to invoice. Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances. Reconcile AR ledger and follow up on overdue payments using AR collection software tool Gaviti. Process incoming payments via bank, credit card, and other payment methods. Liaise with the sales and operations teams to resolve billing disputes. Maintain accurate records of AR transactions and prepare aging reports. Accounts Payable (AP) Review and process vendor bills and credit memos. Ensure appropriate coding and posting of bills to the correct accounts and cost centres. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies. Manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure prompt issue resolution. Document retention in DOCUPHASE document management. Work would principally involve uploading and indexing existing active files, contracts, key business documents and compliancerelated archived. MonthEnd Closing Tasks and Adhoc Activities Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments and account reconciliations. Assist with documentation and completion of month end checklists and reconciliations using the Floqast accounting software tool. Support the preparation of monthly financial reports for management. Participate in internal and external audits as required. General accounting and other administrative duties as assigned. Skills and Attributes College / University graduate in Commerce / Business / Accounting Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the IT or technology sector. Strong understanding of accounting principles GAAP. Experience with ERP / accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Outlook Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational and time management skills, and communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
