The listed salary range serves as a general pay guideline for this position's pay level.Cyber Security SpecialistLocation: Canada , RemoteWhy pursue this opportunityOur mission - make insurance, investments and benefits simple, fast and easy for our customers.Play an integral role - this is an opportunity that allows for you to grow your skills, while directly contributing to the business unit you are a part of.Deliver excellence - provide a personal, accurate, professional, and courteous service and resolution to our customers.What youll be working onReview and analyze events and related logs on all firewalls, virtual private networks, intrusion prevention systems, content switches, Windows and Linux platforms, and any other devices used at Empire Life to minimize risks against internal and external threatsPerform application security assessments to identify security vulnerabilitiesProvide technical guidance to enable the implementation of security automation and automated security testing. Create reports on system and device activities; report on any identified security issuesProvide guidance and leadership on security architecture and compliance matters for business and IT projects; assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as SOX, PCI, PIPEDA, etcPerform risk analysis on various systems; review and recommend processes to improve identity and access managementAssists the Infrastructure and Operations teams in patch management activities; qualifies new patchesAssist with policy implementations and environment evaluations including privacy, accounting and reporting legislation as they relate to information technology practicesPerform security incident investigations; provide assistance, guidance, problem resolution and technical support in the on-going protection of the Corporate IT infrastructure Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of security controls and documentation to minimize risks against internal and external threatsParticipate in information technology and security reviews and audits in cooperation with the Audit and Compliance teamsProvide input on the technical direction and new technology adoption within the Enterprise Security teamDevelop tools, writing scripts, and automation of processes to assist with routine tasks; provide input into the enhancement, streamlining, and improvement of technology and processes to improve team effectiveness and efficiencyRemain current on new and emerging attacks, vulnerabilities and overall security trends; share learnings with team membersWhat were looking for you to have1-3+ years work experience in an information technology security role Accredited certification in network and/or computer security principlesKnowledge and experience with centralized directory services, including Active DirectoryWork experience with operating systems ( Windows Desktop and Server, Linux); database security and cloud-based IaaS and SaaS solutionsKnowledge of cryptographic techniques and technologies (i.e. encryption/decryption standards, PKI, digital signatures, email security, etc)Knowledge of TCP/IP implementation and network security including VPN and wireless infrastructureKnowledge of tools including Firewalls, IPS, SIEM, anti-malware, 802.1X, Data Loss Prevention, Regular Expressions, Multi-Factor Authentication, CASB, etcKnowledge of disaster recovery testing, security administration and hardware/software troubleshootingKnowledge of technical writing processesKnowledge of Service Management, Incident Management and ITIL practices Experience with security vulnerability and testing automationCertifications such as CISSP, CCNA, CCNA Sec, Security +, GSEC are assetsMay be required to work overtime and in an On-Call rotation in order to support service requirementsBeyond the salaryFor regular full-time positions, Empire Life offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes:Competitive salaries with annual pay increasesAnnual bonus program, which recognizes both strong company performance and individual contributions, for non sales positionsCompetitive uncapped commission, for sales positionsA comprehensive employer-funded benefits package starting from day one of employment, that includes life insurance, disability, health and dental and a generous health accountFlexible work arrangements and an annual allotment of personal health days.Four weeks annual vacation from hire dateA defined contribution pension plan with generous employer matchingTop up programs for parental leave and compassionate leaveEmployer-sponsored wellness and recognition programsA cash employee referral programTo learn more about working at Empire Life, visit https://www.empire.ca/workatempire.Get to know usEmpire life is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
