Artistree-MississaugaThe Sr. Material Handler is responsible for transporting materials to/from trucks, containers, and racks; directing Warehouse Associates in their daily activities; conducts daily meetings and communicates safety, production, and other company updates. Attendance, as scheduled, is an essential function of the Sr. Material Handler job. **Major Activities** **Materials** - Load and unload trailers and containers and place boxes in the correct bin locations - Pull purchase orders by the box as directed by the supervisor - Participate in all physical inventories and cycle counts - Cross-train into other positions and provide support to other production teams or functions as needed **Guidance** - Direct warehouse staff and give instructions regarding daily activities **Safety & Organization** - Maintain a clean work area for safe and efficient operation, including replenishment of supplies - Follows all company safety policies; wears appropriate safety equipment, as needed **Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities** **Minimum Education** - High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent **Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills** - Proficient in MS Office, intermediate Excel skills **Minimum Type of experience the job requires** - 1 year Warehouse experience in manufacturing environment **Other** - Ability to use RF scan gun - Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; convey and receive information effectively - Detail-oriented and maintain a high level of accuracy - Ability to accurately read a tape measure and ruler - Use inventory software **Physical Requirements** - Must be able to frequently walk, stand, and sit. - Must be able to constantly lift up to 50lbs/23kgs from floor to overhead. - Must be able to constantly push/pull using total body and upper extremities. - Must be able to constantly bend and squat - Must be able to frequently twist. - Must be able to frequently reach overhead and horizontally. - Must be able to comply with all safety-related standards and requirements, including the correct utilization of personal protective equipment. - Review physical requirements matrix for all requirements **Work Environment** - Ability to work with high noise levels and work around moving machinery - Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment which is subject to dust and high/low temperatures - Ability to work safely in a fast pace manufacturing environment **Applicants in Canada must satisfy federal, provincial, and local legal requirements of the job.** At The Michaels Companies Inc, **our purpose is to fuel the joy of creativity**.
