Overview We are seeking experienced, hands-on SAP Payroll Configuration Consultants to support Canadian Payroll implementations and ongoing support initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in SAP EC Payroll or SAP HCM Payroll configuration, who can work both independently and collaboratively to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant payroll solutions aligned with Canadian legislative requirements. The consultants will be responsible for end-to-end payroll configuration including Canadian tax model setup, wage type configuration, GL posting, and statutory deductions. They will partner closely with the Payroll Lead Consultant, provide backup support, and may occasionally lead smaller payroll implementations. Collaboration with integration leads is essential to ensure seamless data flow and process efficiency across systems. Key Responsibilities: Configuration & Delivery Perform hands-on configuration of SAP Payroll (Canada) aligned with approved design documents and business requirements. Lead and execute configuration tasks including: Canadian tax model setup (federal and provincial) Wage type configuration General Ledger (GL) posting setup Statutory deductions (CPP, EI, QPP, etc.) Support the Payroll Lead Consultant and act as a backup for assigned responsibilities. Lead small-scale payroll implementations, managing configuration, testing, and deployment. Payroll Process Optimization Optimize key payroll processes, including: Gross-to-net calculations Tax reporting and compliance (CRA, Revenu Qubec) Garnishment setup and management Third-party remittances Year-end activities (T4, RL-1, T4A, etc.) Accrual setup Conduct parallel payroll testing, troubleshoot issues, and resolve integration challenges. Technical Enhancements & Maintenance: Develop and refine custom operations, rules, and user exits as needed. Apply support packs and maintain system compliance and performance. Integration & Collaboration: Collaborate with integration leads to ensure seamless integration with SAP FI, Time Management, Benefits, Compensation, and third-party systems. Work cross-functionally to ensure end-to-end payroll process efficiency and data integrity. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Communicate progress, risks, and issues clearly to project management and stakeholders. Provide documentation and support for testing, training, and post-go-live activities. Required Skills & Qualifications: 7+ years of hands-on experience configuring SAP Payroll (ECP or HCM) with a strong focus on Canadian Payroll. Proven experience with: Canadian tax model setup and CRA integration. Wage type configuration and payroll catalog setup. GL posting configuration and financial integration. Off-cycle payroll processing and retroactive calculations. Garnishment configuration and management. Month-end accrual setup. Successful delivery of 3+ full lifecycle SAP Payroll implementations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional, remote teams. Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
