Section 20 Duties of Teachers (R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 298) Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of pupils in the subjects assigned, and for managing the class or classes, reporting to the principal on request. Carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and supply such information as the principal may require. Cooperate fully with teachers and the principal in all matters related to instruction. Unless otherwise assigned, be present in the classroom or teaching area at least fifteen minutes before commencement of morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes. Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community. Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required and submit on request to the principal or supervisory officer. Ensure all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible. Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to establish consistent disciplinary practices. Ensure report cards are fully and properly completed in accordance with provincial guidelines. Cooperate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996. Participate in regular meetings with pupils parents or guardians. Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to colocated placements of pupils; and Perform duties normally associated with graduation of pupils.
