Salary: From CAD 120k up to 180k gross/year (DOE) Fully remote position to work in a payroll system, in Canada. 3 weeks vacation, birthday off Experience in the gambling industry is a MUSTKey ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of backend development tasks using Java ensuring efficient and secure implementations.Design core backend systems to transition into a scalable microservices-based architecture.Develop and maintain robust APIs for both internal use and public consumption.Conduct peer code reviews, mentor team members, and help establish engineering standards.Optimize systems to perform under heavy load while maintaining high reliability and security.Proactively contribute to the evolution of the platforms architecture and tech stack.Required Skills & Experience5+ years of experience in JAVA within production environments (including project leadership roles)3+ years of experience with Microservices, Spring, Springboot, Hibernate and Git.2+ years of experience with Cloud Services (AWS, GCP or Azure)1+ years of experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis or any similar tool.Deep knowledge of relational databases, particularly MySQL, with an emphasis on schema design and performance tuning.Solid background in CI/CD pipelines, system observability, and DevOps methodologies.Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions and mentor team members.Experience with scalable architecture patterns and optimization techniques.Mobile and web experience desired.
