Team Overview The VP and Treasurer reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and works with other vice presidents to provide senior leadership for the Treasury and broader Finance functions. The Treasury team is responsible for EDCs funding ($42 billion in outstanding debt), liquidity ($5 billion in investments), management of market risk and the management of EDCs pension investments. EDCs Treasury team borrows internationally, funding in G7 and emerging market currencies. The team manages a foreign exchange portfolio to support EDCs financial transactions which are done in over 170 markets. In addition to overseeing EDCs Treasury operations, the Treasurer is also responsible for the management of the Treasury activities for EDCs wholly owned subsidiary, FinDev Canada. Brief Overview The successful candidate will bring relevant treasury and capital markets experience. S/He will have broad finance and business skills and will bring a vision for a best-in-class treasury function, that partners with management and operating teams to develop and advance strategic plans. To fulfill this mandate effectively, the candidate will collaborate closely with counterparts in finance, other key executives and professionals throughout the company, and various external stakeholders. What you will be doing Lead a team of specialists to develop and execute complex financial strategies Evolve the funding program (long-term debt annual issuance $7 12 billion and commercial paper average outstanding $4 8 billion) to align with EDCs changing business needs and trends in the capital markets Manage the currency and interest rate risk between EDCs assets and liabilities Develop EDCs Asset/Liability, Funding and Liquidity Strategy and chair EDCs Asset/Liability Committee Be accountable for documentation of EDCs bond transactions and funding programs Oversee the management of EDCs US and Canadian Dollar liquidity investments (any other currencies that may be added over time) Be accountable for interest costs, investment returns and foreign exchange impacts on the financial statements Oversee EDCs investor relations program, marketing EDC to international investors through face-to-face and virtual meetings, webinars, panels, and other communication channels Develop a network of senior-level relationships among Canadian and international financial institutions in the debt-capital markets space Remain up to date on global economic conditions and geopolitical events, assessing their impact on Treasurys portfolios and objectives Contribute to the development and implementation of EDCs Corporate Plan Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide and liquidity stress tests Be accountable for the financial performance of the Treasury team, managing business decisions and maintaining exposures within EDCs risk appetite Provide support to other business units across the organization, offering specialized technical expertise Oversee the management of EDCs Pension Plans as Co-Chair of the Pension Investment Advisory Committee and as a member of the Management Pension Committee Support the evolution of EDCs sustainable finance framework, in alignment with market standards Be responsible for development and maintenance of business continuity plans to enable banking and money movement in disaster situations Proactively enhance internal controls to keep pace with best practices and changes to Treasurys business operations Develop and execute strategic plan for own area and contribute to the organizations strategy Influence a wide range of audiences and establish collaborative relationships within the organization and with external organizations; present and defend complicated or delicate issues that have an important impact on business success Develop strong relationships and engage extensively with the Government of Canada, especially with the Department of Finance People Leadership Guide and foster a positive and inclusive work environment that allows and encourages employees to maximize their opportunities and potential Provide strong leadership and vision to team members on how they can contribute to EDC Set business objectives for the team that are aligned with the overall corporate objectives Provide regular performance feedback and ongoing performance management, including salary reviews for direct reports Establish and maintain an informed, well-motivated team, with the competence and capability to deliver the required services Work closely and collaboratively with other leaders in the broader Finance group and within the organization Foster an atmosphere of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus What we are looking for Bachelors degree in finance or related field 15+ years of experience in treasury or related fields 10+ years of people leadership experience Advanced knowledge of treasury principles International banking and multi-currency experience in globally active organizations Exposure to ESG investing considered an asset Strong coaching abilities, integrity, and cultural influence Proven success in matrixed environments Comprehensive understanding of international trade financing Strong familiarity with EDCs business lines and products Superior oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) What will make you stand out Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, MBA) Eligibility EDC is committed to Fair Employment Practices and preference will be given to a candidate who is able to work legally in Canada at the time of application (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Residents or Work Permit).
