Position Summary Reporting to the Associate Director of Imaging, the self-directed Medical Echocardiographer will be an integral part of our Imaging team. Responsible for applying ultrasound for the assessment of disease processes and congenital anomalies as requested by clinical consultants and performing diagnostic echocardiography procedures in accordance with set standards, and hospital policies and procedures. The successful candidate will ensure that patient care and comfort are maintained at all times. Primary Responsibilities Demonstrated educational and professional involvement as well as a commitment to professional development Participates in departmental teams, hospital committees and meetings as required and/or assigned Ongoing commitment to hospital processes such as Risk Pro, Halogen, Medworxx, and others as needed Willing to model and abide by all hospital Code of Conduct policies and procedures Safety (patient, worker and workplace) is a BCHS corporate priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting, and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions Mandatory Qualifications Diploma in Cardiac Sonography Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echocardiographer Registration in good standing with Sonography Canada Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate preferred Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization Criminal Record Check required Core Competencies Cognitive Knowledge of quality control procedures on equipment will be required Demonstrated technical competence and a commitment to quality patient care Technical Must have computer skills and experience with Hospital Radiology Information Systems and Picture Archiving Communication System(s) Excellent demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, communication and technical skills Ability to inform and assist students with regard to echocardiography procedures, patient care and professional behaviours Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion BCHS is committed to building an inclusive and accessible workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
