Manager, Academic Governance and Planning Systems Date Posted: 11/04/2025 Req ID: 45867 Faculty/Division: VP - University Operations Department: Chief Information Officer Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Information Systems, the Manager, Academic Governance and Planning Systems manages a team of IT staff that administers, configures, and develops products and applications supporting the Universitys enterprise curricular management and academic planning systems. These systems enable governance of courses, programs, and degrees, and provide academicauditing capabilities for students and staff. The Manager leads the team in achieving business sponsor objectives related to service goals and functional requirements, and directs strategic planning and operations of the team to enhance, refactor, replace, or replatform applications in alignment with institutional goals and standards. The Manager evaluates, informs solution design, and implements solution enhancements to meet the business owners goals. They work closely with academic and registrar stakeholders and endusers to define, coordinate, and deliver required functionality. The Manager facilitates team efforts to solicit current and futurestate functional requirements, establish product or application roadmaps, and oversee processes and ceremonies to ensure efficient and timely development and delivery of requested capabilities. The Manager also performs project management duties for the portfolios products and applications, and collaborates with subject matter experts and technical partners. The position includes full managerial authority over the staff in the associated work unit. Qualifications Education: University graduate or equivalent combination of formal education and experience. Experience: Proven project management skills, including methodology, research, planning, and organizational skills. Skills: Strong analytical skills; ability to translate functional requirements into models and concepts; excellent presentation and written communication skills; ability to train, mentor, motivate, and guide others; ability to bridge business and technical personnel; familiarity with research award management processes.
