This is a full-time sales position with significant agronomy involvement. You will work with growers to advise on crop plans, collect and analyze soil samples, advise on timing for pre-burn, seeding, herbicide spraying, fungicide spraying, and harvest preparation and timing. You will also develop fertilizer and pesticide plans and conduct crop scouting for emergence, disease, and insect pressure. The role is based in Smoky Lake, AB. You may assist with operations duties during busy seasons, including loading and delivering seed and chemicals, and helping with fertilizer blends and logistics, among other duties as needed. What You Will Do Recommend appropriate Nutrien products and fertilizer products to customers. Identify, procure and care for grower demonstration plots for varietal comparison purposes. Gather, compile, analyze and interpret test results and prepare progress reports. Design and inspect program experiments, records, notes and seasonal staff logbooks. Ensure that seeding, fertility and pesticide applications occur when weather conditions are optimal. Regularly search for new opportunities to enhance or expand the companys market presence. Plan and conduct field testing of designated research material using defined methods to ensure accuracy and optimize results under experimental protocol. Interact with Division and Branch Management to convey results and provide recommendations based on knowledge of marketing requirements. Distribute varietal information and recommendations to staff and customers; attend and participate in customer information meetings; present technical information related to seed varieties and other marketing programs. Liaise with appropriate industry contacts. Assist in promotion and recommendation of Proven Seed varieties, Loveland Products and Echelon services to farm customers through product knowledge and local field trials. Identify local weed species and be familiar with the biology and control of local pests. Interpret soil and tissue tests and recommend best practices for soil fertility management for local customers. Understand proper method for soil or tissue testing for customers. What You Will Bring Grade 12 or recognized equivalent, supplemented with Certificate in Agriculture, Agri-Business Certificate, or equivalent post-secondary education. 2+ years of applied agronomy and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
