The roleWe are a forward-thinking firmware-focused team dedicated to advancing Data Center Processing Units and Machine Intelligence Processing Units. Our team is passionate about power and performance management on GFX computing, Machine learning, covering a spectrum of responsibilities from hardware and firmware design emulation, design validation, issue debugging, to silicon enablement and production.The successful candidate will take a leadership role in GFX computing, instruction handling, power and performance feature design and development. Responsibilities include collaboration with graphic hardware, driver and firmware designers and architects, ownership of GFX computing, power and performance hardware and firmware features, development and delivery of comprehensive test plans, validation plans, enablement plans, and execution of silicon bring-up.In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to prototyping innovative ideas and designs for the next generation of computing technologies. Throughout the ASIC life cycle, the right candidate will engage in activities up to RTL, DV simulation and Emulation, taking charge of on-silicon feature enablement and testing. Further responsibilities include maintaining and supporting the firmware repository and release. Key responsibilitiesDevelop and execute feature verification, enablement and test plans for SOC power and performance management featuresDevelop firmware functions and features for embedded microcontrollers in CDebug, troubleshoot system-level issues related to computing, power and performance featuresPrototype innovative ideas and designsSupport test automation infrastructure and develop test scriptsProactively drive continuous improvement in all areas of activity Preferred experience8+ years of working experiences in semiconductor industryIn depth understanding of digital electronics and CMOS devicesExpert in developing and debugging system hardware and software or firmware for embedded systemsExperience with FPGA emulation for VLSI systemsExcellent knowledge of C, C++ and Python language, experienced in programming in assembly codeExtensive laboratory experience, including familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.Good understanding of computer organization/architectureOutstanding interpersonal and communication skillsSW and driver working experience would be helpfulSecurity/cryptography experience would be an assetStrong analytical skills and pronounced attention to detailsMust be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion Academic credentialsBachelor or Masters degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science LocationMarkham, ON, Canada #LI-JE1Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes.
