THE ROLE AND IMPACT: The Development Officer (Legacy Giving) is an experienced relationship manager, responsible for oversight of the growth and impact of Cystic Fibrosis Canada''s Legacy (Planned) Giving Program through engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors with a strong connection to the organization. Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships, the Development Officer will engage a range of constituents across a variety of channels, tailoring communications for legacy giving, and leveraging the marketing plan with the objective securing new planned gifts for long term sustainable revenue for the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH: Administration of Estates and Deferred Gifts of Complex Assets Responsible for the coordination of estate administration: review notices and enter information in Raiser''s Edge, review open estate files to determine status, follow up with Estate executors and solicitors Escalate complicated or contested estate files and complex assets to the Director or Chief Development Officer to help resolve or to liaise with professional advisors for counsel Work in conjunction with the Sr Development Officer and Director to ensure estate files are moving forward appropriately Work in conjunction with internal teams to recognize donors and leverage donor stories to encourage more planned gifts are made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada Record all interactions and update correspondence in the database and act as the point person for donors relating to the Legacy Program Maintain current and precise database information to ensure accurate revenue tracking, giving trends and analysis. Develop processes, and monitor, and analyze metrics and other data to assist in forecasting and pipeline management. Planned Giving Communications and Donor Stewardship Track and report on planned giving acquisition initiatives, including the creation of follow-up plans for respondents, help to identify warm leads, track responses, and coordinate communication with confirmed and prospective legacy donors Respond to donor enquiries relating to planned giving through mailings, phone calls and emails communicating the full range of legacy giving options to prospective legacy donors, empowering them to make informed decisions Encourage donors to work with their financial planners to maximize their donations through making residual bequests, gifts of life insurance, RRSPs, and other planned gifts of assets. Design and implement stewardship plans for legacy donors and prospects to ensure the building of long-term relationships with these key stakeholders, including planning and participating in donor events and activities, donor events (virtual and/or in person), personalized touchpoints (meetings, phone calls and emails), and impact reports. Support Major Giving in providing donor information for major donor prospect research. Legacy Giving Marketing and Campaign Collaborate with Marketing and Communications and the Annual Giving team to market and promote the legacy giving program Coordinate activities aimed at generating legacy leads through donor surveys, phone calls, campaign materials Other duties as required. WHAT YOU BRING: Required Qualifications Post secondary degree (or equivalent) 3+ years of demonstrated professional experience in fundraising (at least 1+ year in planned giving or major gifts) with knowledge of estate administration and planned giving vehicles Strong communication skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders Strategic thinker, attention to detail and strong program management skills Demonstrates CF Canada values of Connected, Bold, Inclusive, and Impactful Ability to resolve complex situations, including but not limited to handling donor concerns Proven track record for meeting and exceeding revenue targets and other KPIs. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Responsible, proactive, driven, and able to work independently.
