In this role, you will manage the team delivering cloudinit the standard for customizing cloud instances to the world. You will own the product, influencing its evolution and coordinating new features, enhancements, and integrations across a broad ecosystem that includes cloud providers, community contributors, and other Linux distributions. Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and handson career development. Work with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team. Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders. Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices. Develop and evangelize excellent engineering and organizational practices. Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values. Participate as an active member of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization. Engage in strong engineering processes through code and architectural review. Engage with teams at Canonical, the opensource community, and commercial partners. Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family. Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features. Work from home with global travel for up to six weeks per year for internal and external events. Qualifications Strong track record of developing and growing people in engineering roles. Knowledgeable and passionate about software development. 3+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers; experience managing distributed teams is a plus. Focused on success and delivery of timely, highquality software. Experience working in an agile development environment. Bachelors or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related degree. Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English. Experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
