Our international customer base includes some of the worlds fastest-growing fintech companies and leading financial institutions.Your Contribution to Our GrowthWe are seeking a highly experienced Business Systems Analyst with proven expertise in brokerage systems and operations, trading and payment platforms, or back office systems. In this role, youll work closely with operations, engineering, and product teams to analyze workflows, identify solutions, translate requirements into clear development specifications, and guide the delivery of systems and tools that support our global business. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing accuracy, operational efficiency, and overall client experience.As the primary partner to our Operations team, youll take ownership of the internal applications and tooling they rely on every day. Youll assess how our systems function end-to-end, identify gaps, design or refine workflows, and ensure our operational platforms scale with the needs of the business. Youll be responsible for a core operations application that interacts with multiple systems across the enterprise, ensuring seamless integrations, supporting new features, and driving improvements across upstream and downstream components.With Aquanow revamping key parts of our operational ecosystem and introducing new tools, youll play a critical role in shaping how these platforms evolve. Youll work hands-on with REST APIs, state-transition models, SQL-based data validation, and complex operational workflows to troubleshoot issues and support new capabilities. As the go-to expert and escalation point for operations-related system needs, you will help reduce errors, streamline processes, and improve the usability and efficiency of our tools.This full-time, permanent role is hybrid from our Downtown Toronto office.What Youll DoGather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for virtual asset brokerage, payments and custody services and translate them into system and functional requirements.Manage and represent the backlog for applications and toolsets used by the operations team, focusing on enhancing usability and operational efficiency.Ensure seamless integration of front-end applications with back-end services, including REST APIs and data sources.Maintain system usability by monitoring performance and recommending improvements.Serve as the primary intake point for new requests, enhancements and fixes received from the operations team.Serve as the escalation point for issues raised by the operations team, working closely with techOps, product, compliance, development, and business teams to design permanent solutions.Work with state-transition data models to analyze, document, and optimize system workflows and state changes.Prepare clear and comprehensive functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and operational documentation.Perform data analysis and validation using SQL to support troubleshooting and reporting needs.Participate in product backlog grooming, sprint planning and user acceptance testing (UAT).Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, QA, compliance, and operations teams within Agile development frameworks.Stay current on fintech industry trends, cloud technologies (AWS), and relevant regulatory changes.Wed Love to SeeMinimum 5 years of Business Systems Analyst or Product Owner experience within capital markets brokerage or payments service provider environments.Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Proven experience supporting applications that manage client trading or payment transaction workflows.Strong understanding of onboarding workflows, compliance, and regulatory requirements in banking and crypto sectors (KYC, AML).Familiarity with trading market data structure, source(s) integration and consumption by fintech systems.Proven experience in REST API call/response structures, integration process, and troubleshooting from product specification perspective.Advanced skills in SQL for data querying, validation, and reporting.Practical knowledge of AWS cloud platform and its application within fintech software solutions.Experience with state-transition data models and lifecycle/state management in complex systems.Understanding of even streaming messaging solutions such as KafkaDemonstrated ability to manage operations-facing applications without direct production support or tech ops responsibilities.Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams.Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments with a focus on product ownership or senior business analysis.At our offices you will find a group of people that embrace diversity and value performance over pedigree.
