The RoleReporting to the Category Manager, the Buyer is responsible for supporting the overseas buying activities for all stores at region level, as well as providing assistance to the manager and the team in the end-to-end purchasing process by following up on orders and deliveries, compiling reports, performing data maintenance and communicating with local vendors and Loblaws Companies Ltd.Major ResponsibilitiesGenerate reports and perform analysis on product selection, sales, pricing, market reports, and other related data as requiredAssist Category Manager in product category review and analysis to ensure sales opportunities and profitabilityShare best practices and maintain knowledge of emerging trends through networks with internal and external stakeholdersProvide assistance in establishing pricing guidelines and maintain sales plus gross profit expectationsNegotiate and replenish products at competitive market price, while ensuring accurate deliveryUnderstand stores needs and partner closely with suppliers in sourcing new and seasonal products on a timely mannerCreate forecast for promotionDevelop and maintain vendor partnership, programs, sponsorships, and in-store promotionsCoordinate deliveries with vendor and store receivers, maintain optimal inventory and product qualityKnowledge, Skills and Ability RequirementsA minimum of 2 years experience in supermarket chain stores or products procurement, experience in procuring Southeast Asian grocery products is an assetHave technical knowledge of product categories, specification, pricing, including produce grading & standardsProven negotiation skills with sound business judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skillsAble to demonstrate enthusiasm in delivering all the job responsibilities within the given timelineAble to read food labels and ingredients in ChineseStrong written and verbal communication skills in EnglishProficient computer skills (Microsoft office programs)Excellent interpersonal, time management and organization skillsEmployee BenefitsDiscretionary bonusLife/AD&D insuranceExtended health/dental/vision careRetirement benefitPaid annual/sick/marriage/bereavement leaveSubsidized staff mealIn-store staff purchase discountShift5-day work week (Monday to Friday), 9:00am 5:30pmSafety Statement Safety continues to be T&T Supermarkets top priority.
