Leading a team of two payroll professionals, the Payroll Supervisor will ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting, manage year-end activities, and support audit readiness.This role is ideal for an experienced payroll supervisor who has experience processing and overseeing payroll for many union and non-union staff. We would like to thank all applicants however only those under consideration will be contacted.Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day activities within the Payroll DepartmentSupervise the processing of bi-weekly payroll for both union and non-union employeesRecruit, train and supervise two direct reports, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all payroll processes.Complete month end and year end closing, including reconciliations, adjustments, and T4 preparationEnsure compliance with Collective Agreements, employment standards, and taxation requirementsDevelop and improve payroll policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of payroll services, and lead process improvement and updates to payroll systems to ensure optimal performanceEnsure that all external reporting requirements are met in a timely mannerProvide support and expertise to management and staff on all payroll mattersQualifications:Experience managing payroll for a large, unionized employee group2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience; ability to lead, motivate and develop a teamCompletion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent requiredPayroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) and member of the National Payroll Institute preferred; non-designated candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.Intermediate level Excel skills including pivot tables and V-lookupsExtremely detail oriented and strong analytical and reporting skillsTeam player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
