Join Our Team as a Senior Information Security Officer! The City of Burnaby is seeking a Senior Information Security Officer (SISO) who will be a key technology leader in establishing and maintaining the Citys cybersecurity program. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Officer Planning and Government, the SISO will: Identify, evaluate, and report on legal, regulatory, IT, and cybersecurity risks to information assets. Develop and implement cybersecurity practices that align with policies, standards, and risk management approaches. Oversee security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and data encryption. Serve as the process owner for assurance activities related to information confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Coordinate incident response plans and procedures to ensure business continuity. Lead cybersecurity awareness training for staff, contractors, and system users. Collaborate with external agencies to maintain a strong security posture. The ideal candidate will have a Masters or Bachelors degree in a related field, with at least seven years of cybersecurity experience, including five years in management, preferably in municipal government. Certifications and strong knowledge of frameworks, legislation, and policies are required. The role demands leadership skills, discretion, and the ability to handle complex, sensitive issues effectively. The position is open until filled. We welcome new applications!
