Position Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba Position Type: Full time, on location Salary/Wages: Starting at $20 for 35 hours per week Training: Training, orientation, and mentorship will be provided to the successful candidate Building Access to Justice for Racialized Communities Project The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the Access to Justice Project at Healthy Muslim Families in Winnipeg. This community-led initiative was launched to address gaps in services available to support visible minority and other vulnerable groups. HMF is a charitable organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our mission is to strengthen and empower families through education, programs, services, and support, in line with Islamic values. We serve ethno-cultural communities that include new immigrant and refugee communities and thus strive to provide culturally appropriate services. Main Job Responsibilities Be available to work on location, full-time Organize Legal clinics and other support services Support refugee claimants with filling out forms to make a refugee claim Coordinate appointments with refugee claimants and their counsel Accurately maintain participant files in an effective and confidential manner Engage in outreach and networking to inform community about the availability of legal services Organize workshops on topics of benefit to community Provide mentorship and support to community volunteers Compile information resources for vulnerable groups Establish referral relationships with key community organizations and legal professionals Other Duties Submit reports and document a tion of project activities in a timely manner.
