The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.Position Overview:The Track Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, engineering, and integration of track systems, including alignment, switches, and drainage, while ensuring Operations & Maintenance (O&M) readiness for track elements on the ECWE project. This role collaborates with the systems design production team to define and implement technical requirements, performance specifications, and interfaces within wayside systems. The position demands expertise in civil or track engineering and experience in multidisciplinary rail or transit project teams.Track Design & Integration Contribute to the engineering and design of track systems, including ballastless and ballasted tracks, turnouts, and rail fastening systems. Assist in producing and validating design deliverables, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements. Support coordination with the System Integration and Interface team for interfaces between track, signalling, civil works, and rolling stock. Incorporate systems requirements, TVRA recommendations, and operational considerations into track designs. Ensure track designs align with project standards, Metrolinx requirements, and applicable codes.O&M ReadinessAssist in developing O&M readiness strategies for track assets, emphasizing maintainability, inspection access, and lifecycle durability. Review design documentation to integrate operational maintainability and reliability into track decisions.Collaborate with Metrolinx and O&M stakeholders to establish maintenance philosophies, asset strategies, and spare parts planning for track systems. Support the development of operation and maintenance manuals, training programs, and handover documentation.Management & CoordinationWork within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to deliverables aligned with project milestones. Overview WSP Track design team production and participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and change management for track elements. Provide technical input and coordinate with design partners and subcontractors on track matters. Attend meetings with Metrolinx, WSP, and stakeholders as required for track discussions.Interface and Assurance Help define and validate interface requirements between track systems and other project elements. Support system assurance activities, including RAMS, verification & validation, and safety certification for track. Maintain configuration control and requirements traceability for track throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate with Integration and Testing & Commissioning teams for track handover and testing readiness. Reporting and Compliance Provide updates on traction power design status, risks, and issues to the System Wayside and O&M Manager. Ensure all track designs meet Metrolinx and applicable International and Ontario standards. Track actions from design reviews, RFIs, and technical clarifications related to track.Qualifications:Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Track Engineering, or a related field.Minimum 510 years of relevant experience in track design, integration, and V&V for transit or rail projects.Experience in Design-Build or P3 environments preferred (Contractor side). Knowledge of CENELEC / ISO / IEC standards (EN 50126/50128/50129, ISO/IEC 15288). Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Aconex).
