Position Summary Reporting to the Director of People & Culture the Lead supports the execution of the BCHS DEI-B Roadmap and advances the three strategic pillars of Internal Systems Change, External Engagement and Visibility, and Strategic Resourcing and Innovation. The role ensures continuity of initiatives that promote equity for staff, physicians, learners, patients, and volunteers, while aligning with BCHSs overall strategic plan. Primary Responsibilities Program Implementation and Systems Integration Coordinate implementation of DEI-B Roadmap priorities including inclusive leadership education, DEI-B dashboards, and workforce self-identification processes. Support integration of inclusive and equitable practices into recruitment, onboarding, policies, and patient care. Partner with leaders and departments to embed trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches into workplace and clinical environments. Monitor progress on DEI-B action items and maintain alignment with BCHS strategic goals. Required to provide expertise and support of DEIB/human rights related actions, ensuring alignment with BCHSs strategic direction. Education, Training and Capacity Building Deliver DEI-B learning sessions, workshops, and e-learning modules. Educates and supports departments regarding health equity and inclusion initiatives This position requires meeting with employees during sensitive and emotionally heightened moments, involving active listening of staff/patients personal experience with DEIB-related issues. Must be able to build and maintain trusting relationships with staff, physicians, leaders, and patients Acts as a subject matter expert on DEIB and is a counsel to staff and leadership involving coaching and educating best practices Facilitate sessions on bias awareness, allyship, and cultural humility for leaders and teams. Support the creation of internal DEI-B champions and peer-to-peer learning networks. Collaborate with internal partners to ensure leadership and employee development programs reflect inclusive principles. Maintains current knowledge of methods, practices and tools used in the external environment. Data, Metrics and Evaluation Support collection and analysis of self-identification, workforce, and patient demographic data. Required to create material and present findings/recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders. Develops relevant tools and SOPs for the department. Assist in the development of DEI-B dashboards and annual reports to demonstrate progress. Contribute to data-informed recommendations that address systemic barriers and improve access, representation, and belonging. Align data practices with provincial health-equity and inclusion frameworks. Communication, Engagement and Partnerships Collaborate with Communications to highlight DEI-B activities, promote inclusive language, and celebrate heritage and awareness events. Coordinate the Celebrate, Educate and Engage series, I Belong features, and other BCHS inclusion campaigns. Support community and academic partnerships such as BBNOHT and Wilfrid Laurier University to share best practices and resources. Maintain partnership records and provide progress updates to leadership. Mandatory Qualifications Bachelors degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Organizational Development, or a related field required. Certification in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion required. Masters degree or, Human Rights, or Change Management preferred. 3-5 years of progressive experience in DEI and/or Health Equity required. Demonstrated experience in including facilitation, data analysis, and program coordination. Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, and Ontario Health Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism Framework. Strong facilitation, consultation, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and present data effectively to all levels of leadership. Experience coordinating DEI or culture-change programs in complex organizations, healthcare experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Teams, and digital collaboration platforms. Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization. Criminal Record Check required.
