You will work in fastpaced, highperforming project groups coordinated by the Director of Product Innovation. Job Focus This position focuses on the testing, manufacturing, and deployment of ChargeHub. Key responsibilities include: - Assist the design (simulation, circuit analysis, controller) and prototyping of highpower DC/DC converters and Liion batteries. - Assist the prototyping, testing, commissioning, documentation, and certification of BESS and EVFC. - Assist communication with external partners and design knowledge transfer. - Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and User Acceptance Tests (UAT). - Analyze equipment performance data to identify the source of performance issues. - Participate in component datasheet review and sample testing. - Gain introduction to Liion Battery Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. - Acquire industry insights on Energy Storage, Microgrid, and Transportation Electrification. - Develop background knowledge and handson experience on converter topologies, converter control, and Liion batteries. - Perform schematic drawing, simulation, and engineering documentation tasks. - Learn interaction with external entities, academic collaborators, suppliers, inspectors, etc. - Engage in project management, leadership, and teamwork activities. - Support occasional travel to Canada and the United States. Additional Responsibilities: - Document all technical details of design work. - Prepare application notes on designs and findings. - Create design progress reports, summaries of test results, and site work completion records. - Assist with special projects as required. Job Requirements - Completed a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Science (Energy Systems). - Structured learning in Power Electronics and control systems (e.g., ECE520 or ECE1066 from UofT, or ECE663 from UWaterloo). - Three years of experience designing, simulating, prototyping, and testing converters and inverters. - Familiarity with practical design components such as transistors, passive components, pulse transformers, EMI filters, and transducers. - Proficiency with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTSPICE) and control loop design tools (Scilab, NumPy). - Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.). - Team player who enjoys overcoming engineering challenges with others and is open to feedback. - Willing to work handson in testing labs, manufacturing plants, and potential site visits. - Legally entitled to work in Canada (a copy of a valid work permit is required for international students).
