Job Description

As a Mechanical Assembler, you will fit and assemble components according to engineering diagrams and documents to build sub-assemblies for heavy forestry equipment. To excel in this role, a combination of technical skills is required, including both problem solving and mechanical aptitude. **Location:** 1403 Dundas Street, Woodstock, ON **Dedicated Afternoon Shift:** 4:30pm - 3:00am, Monday Thursday **Shift Premium:** $3.00 per hour, in addition to the base rate Job Duties - Read and follow diagrams, drawings, specifications, bills of material, parts lists, and instructions to accurately assemble components. - Utilize hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete assembly tasks. - Operate lifting devices such as jib cranes to complete assembly installations. - Test and check electrical assemblies and wiring for proper connections. - Repair or replace defective assemblies, components, and accessories. - Ensure meticulous assembly through fit and alignment. - Verify equipment functions and quality standards to prevent faulty products from reaching customers. Skills and Experience - Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. - Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members. - Good level of manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination is required. - Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending. Qualifications - Previous related experience maintaining or repairing recreational vehicles, landscaping equipment, small engine repair, pre-apprenticeship training or other general construction/trades courses. - Mechanical skills using hand tools and power tools. - Experience reading blueprints or assembly drawings is an asset.
