Not at TD, anyway. **TD Testing and Quality Engineer (QE)** covers a specialized area dedicated to high-quality application and solution delivery. Similar to industry trends, TD's definition of this area of discipline (as well as skill and knowledge requirements) has changed over time. One thing hasn't changed experts in this area remain highly-marketable across businesses. Some of our testing activities may focus on system integration, business acceptance, performance, operability and deployment verification. Quality Assurance activities, in contrast, give stakeholders information about product or service quality while allowing the business to appreciate and understand any implementation risks. Many Testing & QA Experts could be involved in end-to-end delivery of testing, or more focused on a specific discipline. There's room to grow in all of this.**Customer*** Accountable for Test Strategy deliverables, planning, test design /development, test case automation and test execution to achieve business outcomes for medium to high complexity scope.* Integrate directly into a teams continuous delivery process, augmenting the delivery of quality software and ensuring speed, agility, and risk management.* Provide leadership, direction and feedback throughout the development and design processes; provides test development / automation support to ensure that the quality of the intended solution is met* Able to determine testing impacts for multiple delivery teams and scale accordingly to ensuring positive business outcomes* Responsible for activities related to risk identification and mitigation and validating that business outcomes are achieved.* Drive quality and metrics making improvements in delivery; work on becoming a leader in innovation* Utilize advanced domain knowledge & ability to understand technical solutions to build an optimized Test Approach, inclusive of the tooling strategy* Effectively engineer and leverage virtual assets to support virtualization of any incomplete / unavailable code, service, database, etc.* Have strong knowledge of test data management to reuse automated test data provisioning capabilities to be able to adopt a standard test data tool set* Lead deployment and implementation of tools / processes / resources and automation for functional and/or non-functional testing (performance, readiness / reliability testing (ORT), accessibility, security) approach, frameworks, and ensure automated tests are integrated into the continuous integration, delivery, and testing (CI/CD/CT) pipelines* Identify opportunities for test asset reusability and efficiencies in test approach* Proactively seek continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and responsible for developing, documenting, and proactively identifying end-to-end test solution designs and early automation opportunities within the testing process* Lead team and collaborate cross-functionally with development, business analysts, etc. to ensure proper assessment of user stories including acceptance criteria and Definition of Done (DoD) / Ready (DoR)* Apply Coach and mentor others on the principles of behavior / Test Driven Development (BDD / TDD) and focus on value driven outcomesSDET (in addition to above)* Provide advanced test development support* Accountable for test architecture activities* Sitting at the Product Group (PG) level, act as a quality expert working across numerous development teams in medium complexity deliveries* Act as an expert who can quickly troubleshoot and accountable for use of automation frameworks across numerous delivery teams as needed* Ensure quality of source code; looking for opportunities to effectively leverage tools and engineering practices (DevOps tools and processes, SV, monitoring tools and process, etc.)* Accountable for early contributions to the design and development process / to ensure built-in-quality code**Shareholder*** Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to quality engineering activities* Ensure respective programs/ policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities* Collaboratively engage with relevant stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external, to shift from finding defects to proactively preventing defects* Actively seek and support continuous improvement and automation opportunities within the quality engineering practice* Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using data to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices* Identify opportunities to minimize cost, provide recommendations and/or deliver corresponding strategic solutions to support cost effectiveness and to enhance stakeholder experience* Conduct test assets reviews to ensure adherence to quality, standards compliance, reusability, and ease of maintenance* Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist* Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues* Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements* Protect the interests of the organization identify and manage risks, and escalate nonstandard, high-risk activities as necessary* Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts* Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite**Employee/Team*** Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest* Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for quality engineering best practices and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit* Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques* Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team* Keep others informed and up to date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities* Actively mentors and enables team members by sharing knowledge #J-18808-Ljbffr
