JOB PURPOSE This position will be Shift Lead (Supervisor) for the Rexdale Dressings facility. The position will be part of a team of Supervisors responsible for the site. Overall responsibility for current and future manufacturing performance (safety, quality, and efficiency of either the Refinery or Packaging operation) using the WCM operating framework. Direct responsibility for all Hourly Production Employees, and all hourly employees on off-shifts. Additionally, the Supervisor will work on continuous improvement projects both individually and on teams. Youll be part of a team that believes in doing work that matters for people and the planet. This role will be supporting the factory on a rotational shift basis, including occasional vacation and weekend coverage. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Managing manufacturing activities during the designated shift (flexible shift timings, including nights/ weekends) by leading and motivating shift employees in all areas including safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. Accountable for general supervisory coverage for all shifts. Includes schedule coordination, labor/crewing, safety, quality, site security, and behavioral management. - Protection of employees health and safety by meeting legislative requirements, providing instruction regarding safety procedures, and ensuring compliance of all regulatory and plant safety rules. - Develops plans and activities to meet plant and PDP targets, which include but are not limited to 3+1 targets, functional responsibilities and other projects that are established for cost reduction, yield improvements and efficiency gains. - Accountable for the productivity of the site during off-shifts. Includes provision of some technical expertise, contacting appropriate resources for issue resolution, providing alternative duties in the event of breakdown or material shortage, monitoring general performance and behavior of employees, and adjusting crewing or call-in replacements as necessary. - Maintaining good union-management relations by ensuring correct administration of the Collective Agreement and use of a proactive problem-solving approach. - Provide leadership and support to WCM mission and ensure that objectives are met and returns on investment are evident. - Facilitate required training programs to employees (SHE, WCM, QA, etc.). - Regularly cascade/communicate Site targets and goals from the Leadership Team to shift crews, consistently and accurately. - Control fixed and variable cost expenditures. - Support quality and food safety programs including HACCP and FSSC-22000. - Attend, participate, and complete the required trainings for the programs implemented in the company. - Participate and/or support internal and external audits. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors Degree (preferably technical in nature). - At least 3 years of demonstrated success in manufacturing with prior experience in supervisor capacity. - Demonstrated experience in managing a safety culture, GMP and HACCP. - A solid foundation and background of production procedures. - Excellent communication skills and a natural leader. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Demonstrated experience in managing a safety culture, high speed packaging, food manufacturing, GMP, HACCP, and union relations. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with SAP is an asset. - Advanced troubleshooting skills and aptitude for getting things done. - Demonstrated experience in sanitation within manufacturing.
