Reports to: Vice President Product Engineering Company Overview A Start-up Disrupting the Mining Industry Novamera Inc. is a funded start-up that is developing an innovative technology and process to recover gold, copper or other ore from steeply dipping, narrow vein deposits that are considered uneconomic when applying traditional extraction methods. It is called Sustainable Mining by Drilling (SMD) and there is a global opportunity for this innovation, which has the potential to not only mine minerals more safely at a significantly lower cost than conventional selective mining methods, but with substantially lower energy, water consumption and environmental footprint. Opportunity Development Role in Reshaping the Mining Industry Job Opportunity: Engineering Senior Hardware Engineer The Senior Hardware Engineer has the opportunity to come on board at the ground floor, be a part of the engineering team and be a significant contributor in shaping the development of the SMD technology. Novamera Inc is looking for a self-driven senior hardware engineer who is challenged by designing, developing and delivering down bore solutions, integrating analog electromagnetic wave sensors into digital solutions. The ideal individual is someone who can work and communicate effectively with our geophysicists, data scientists, and software engineers to understand the problems being overcome and parameters needing to be identified and measured using analog and digital sensors. In addition, they should have an aptitude and clear understanding of analog to digital conversion, filtering, and cleaning of such data. The candidate should be capable of mentoring junior software engineers and have them along with data scientists report to them. They should also understand the development requirements and types of individuals and expertise needed to handle the workload. Role and Responsibilities include: 1. Designing on-board controllers to integrate survey and ground penetrating radar technologies; 2. Developing rugged, embedded hardware solutions including PCB designs; 3. Working collaboratively with mechanical and software disciplines; 4. Working on complex designs to meet compact, harsh, and submersible requirements; 5. Sizing and selecting appropriate battery capacity and units for autonomous operations; 6. Designing the power section for the controller boards and on-board equipment; 7. Defining communication protocols to extract data from sensors down in a bore hole via 900Mhz, 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, and Ethernet; 8. Designing circuits and creating schematics; 9. Leading or participating in design reviews; 10. Writing, reviewing, and executing test plans; 11. Bringing up new hardware, working closely with Software Engineering; 12. Hardware debugging; 13. Creating hardware user manuals; 14. Writing and reviewing technical specifications; 15. Providing mentoring and leadership to junior team members. Qualifications Required: 1. Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) or similar degree; 2. Minimum 5-10 years of experience with electronics circuit design; 3. Analog signal and antenna design a necessity, preferably in ground penetrating radar environment; 4. Experience in designing Digital and Analog/Mixed power management ICs, transceivers; 5. Designing with SPI, I2C, UART, USB2.0, USB 3.0; 6. Familiar with good design practices for robust EMC design. #J-18808-Ljbffr
