Learn more about OCL here: The Role We are currently looking forJourneyman Structural/Plate Fittersfor our shop located just NE of Fort Saskatchewan, AB. Day and Night Shifts available. A metal fabricator (fitter) lays out, prepares and assembles structural steel and metal vessels, containers and miscellaneous components. Metal fabricators (fitters) fabricate structural components for frames, platforms, buildings, and other load-carrying structures, and plates for tanks, boilers, pressure vessels and similar products. On a typical project, they will: Compensation/Benefits Competitive hourly wage, negotiable, based on experience. Weekly Pay 6% vacation pay and 4% stat holiday pay on all regular hours Benefits after 90 days of employment (50% employer paid) - vision, health, dental, paramedicals, travel Long term disability, AD&D, life insurance, dependent life insurance Will consider DSP''s/subcontractors as well Responsibilities/Duties Read & interpret blueprints or welding process specifications for structural steel Plan the sequence of tasks and decide how to cut the steel most efficiently Determine the materials required and obtain them from stock Develop and/or mark patterns if required Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, and roll, bend or press steel into the desired shapes, Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units Fasten components together (by mechanical means or tack weld) in preparation for a welder to complete the process. Other duties as assigned Key Skills/Competencies Strong work ethic & positive team attitude Attention to detail & high degree of accuracy Ability to engage & problem solve Versatility to work in the field or shop & be a motivated, self-starter Eagerness to learn, develop current skill set & grow with the company Extensive plate, structural, and miscellaneous welding experience whether it be a small or large project Takes pride in workmanship, aims for zero repair rate, continually striving to improve & develop Continually exhibits best practices with housekeeping, safety, document control, lock-up procedures & preventative maintenance Experience using overhead cranes and skid steers Support, participate in, and help drive the overall company safety program, safety awareness, and safety targets Consistently demonstrate ''Safety Leadership'' qualities Excellent communication skills, can-do attitude, collaborative skills, ability to follow directions and have attention to detail Perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines Experience/Education/Qualifications Journeyperson Metal Fabricator (Fitter) certificate. Pipe Fitters and other trades will be considered with suitable equivalent experience. Must have previous experience in a similar setting and industry CSTS 2020 Fundamentals (contains WHMIS2015) Valid CWB, FCAW, SMAW ALL POSITIONS is considered an asset May be required to complete a pre-access drug and alcohol test when working on certain sites May need to have certain safety tickets and complete site specific orientations for certain sites.
