This program is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate would be required to follow CIMT Colleges policies and procedures. Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual. The Instructor is responsible for following the provided instructor manuals and using the resource materials to train students with the required knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field. CIMT College places a premium on professional conduct, combined with excellence in classroom instruction, with primary emphasis on handson training. Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field Instruct curriculum using only preauthorized and provided materials Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students progress according to guidelines and procedures Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly Provide feedback on student performance Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multicultural environment Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude Maintain attendance records accurately Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information Stay current in the subject matter through professional development Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving Perform other related duties as required Skills Required Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model Lawyer or licensed paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario 3 years of working experience (except for nonsubstantive law courses) At least 1 year of teaching experience or have formal training in education that has resulted in a degree, diploma or certificate being awarded Teaching of Adults certificate an asset Qualifications Have 48 months of work experience in the vocation OR Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation OR Have 24 months of work experience in the vocation AND o Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree o Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent o Graduate of a registered OCC or equivalent Lawyer or paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario 3 years of working experience (except for nonsubstantive law courses) At least 1 year of teaching experience or have formal training in education that has resulted in a degree, diploma or certificate being awarded Teaching of Adults certificate an asset Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 Must be available to teach In campus-Brampton as per the accepted schedule Accessibility and Equal Employment Opportunity statement CIMT college is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and accessible work environment.
