Job Description

* Leads the implementation of strategic initiatives that build upon the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Strategic Plan.* Ensures Faculty of Medicine unit leaders and staff understand and uphold the unit strategy, goals, and objectives.* Develops a solid understanding of the work performed by each unit; responds to and gives direction on issues escalated by Unit Leads.* Develops unit goals, defines measures of progress and leads teams in aligning their day-to-day activities with strategic priorities in support of the Offices and the Universitys vision, values, and purpose. This includes leading and overseeing the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of progress on initiatives within each unit.* Develops frameworks, policies, procedures, and other systems to support the execution of UBC Faculty of Medicines strategic objectives.* Addresses and resolves complex operational issues, working with the SLT.* Provides administrative leadership in operational, facilities, financial management, and IT planning.* Understands and identifies core organizational issues, challenges, progress and risks; provides direction and resolves issues if needed.* Has responsibility for budgetary oversight in collaboration with UBC Vice President and Finance Operations portfolio.* Performs other duties as assigned.Inappropriate actions, errors in performance or indiscretions in judgment can negatively impact the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine's working relationships and credibility with a range of critical internal and external partners, may result in legal action or negative public relations, incur inappropriate costs, and/or jeopardize the unit's reputation in the areas of collaborative health education, research and health systems. **Supervision Received**Leads the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, on operational, facilities and IT administration strategic planning.
