Company: WaveRyde Instruments is growing its world-class technical team for quantum sensor-systems for 5G applications.WaveRyde is a spin-off from Quantum Valley Ideas Laboratories (QVIL), well-supported by both QVIL and wireless industry leaders.WaveRyde is located in Waterloo, Canada (near Toronto), in the heart of Canadas Quantum Valley with excellent academic research and technology communities, including outstanding universities.The WaveRyde Instruments team includes pioneering leaders in quantum sensors and wireless technologies.Job description:We are seeking a skilled Electro-Optical Assembler to join our engineering and production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, alignment, and testing of laser and fiber-optic subsystems used in advanced photonics and quantum sensing applications. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with precision optics handling, fiber splicing, and electro-optic device integration.Key responsibilities:Integrate and test lasers, electro-optic components, and photodiode detectors.Perform optical fiber splicing and fiber coupling to optical devices.Handle adhesive bonding (UV-curing and epoxy) of fiber-optic components with precision and cleanliness.Conduct optical power measurements, beam profiling, and alignment verification.Follow detailed assembly procedures, work instructions, and quality control standards.Maintain a clean and organized optical bench and work area.Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot assembly and test issues and provide feedback for design improvement.Document test results and maintain build records.Required qualifications:Diploma or Bachelors degree in Optics, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.Attention to detail for precision optical alignment and gluing tasks.Ability to read and follow technical drawings and assembly procedures.Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.Preferred qualifications:13 years of experience in optical or laser system assembly.Proficiency with fiber splicers, optical alignment tools, and test instruments (power meters, oscilloscopes, wavemeters and spectrum analyzers).WaveRyde Instruments offers a competitive compensation and benefits package as well as an exciting, challenging and supportive work atmosphere.
