The role is equivalent in seniority to a Project or Senior Geologist, depending on experience level, but with a clear specialization in database management.Based in our Toronto head office (or remotely, with periodic travel), you will report to and work closely with the Principal Geologist Data Manager. Together, you will lead the design, implementation, and stewardship of a centralized, multi-deposit geologic and assay database, while also supporting portfolio-site geology teams in their day-to-day data workflows. Secondarily, you will have opportunities to contribute to technical due diligence on new acquisitions, particularly around data quality, data room review, and database readiness.Role-Specific AccountabilitiesDatabase Implementation & GovernanceLead geologic database implementations and migrations for newly acquired projects, including data mapping, validation, and roll-out.Build and maintain a unified, centralized geologic and assay database spanning multiple deposits and portfolio companies.Configure, administer, and optimize acQuire GIM Suite, including data structures, workflows, imports/exports, user roles, and security.Develop and maintain standards and governance for data structures, naming conventions, metadata, and auditability across assets.Prepare and maintain documentation, SOPs, and guidance materials for geologic and assay data management.Systems Integration & AutomationDesign and manage integrations between acQuire and third-party software and data providers, such as: Geologic AI, CorePlan, Krux, Imago, ALS Webtrieve, IMDEX HUB-IQBuild and maintain importers, exporters, and ETL workflows to streamline data capture from drilling, logging, laboratory, and field systems.Develop and support reporting tools and dashboards to deliver timely information to site geologists, resource teams, and corporate management.Collaborate with internal IT and external vendors to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient data flows.Support Site Geology TeamsProvide hands-on support to site geology teams on database use, workflows, and troubleshooting.Plan and deliver training sessions (on-site and remote) on acQuire GIM Suite and related data workflows.Help geologists optimize their logging, sampling, and assay workflows for data quality, consistency, and downstream use in resource models and mine planning.Act as a key liaison between corporate data standards and site-specific operational realities.Data Quality, QA/QC & Technical IntegritySupport the design and implementation of QA/QC programs for drilling and assay data (standards, blanks, duplicates, umpire checks, etc.).Work with resource geologists and consultants to ensure databases are clean, well-documented, and fit for use in resource estimation and technical reporting.Participate in data reviews and audits, including legacy data rehabilitation and validation projects.Provide technical input to due diligence on potential acquisitions, focused on data quality, data completeness, and database structure.Collaboration & TravelWork closely with the Principal Geologist Data Manager, resource geologists, exploration teams, mine planners, and corporate leadership.Build relationships with site teams to ensure alignment between corporate data strategy and on-the-ground needs.Travel up to 25% of the time (up to ~one week per month), domestically and internationally, for implementations, training, and site support.Qualifications & Experience:Required:Degree in Geology or a closely related field.Minimum of 5 years combined experience in geology and geologic data management; 810 years total experience is ideal.Experience working as a Project Geologist, Senior Geologist, or equivalent, with significant responsibility for drilling, logging, sampling, or data management.Demonstrated hands-on experience administering acQuire GIM Suite (configuration, workflows, data loading, security, and reporting).Solid understanding of drilling, sampling, core logging, and assay workflows in exploration and/or mine production environments.Basic SQL coding experience (e.g., queries, simple views, data validation checks).Familiarity with QA/QC concepts and best practices for geologic and assay data.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and support geologists and technicians at varying levels of experience.Willingness and ability to travel to project sites (sometimes remote) as requiredConsidered an AssetExperience with mine planning and modeling tools such as: Deswik, Leapfrog, Origin, VulcanExperience with other geologic database platforms such as: Geobank, Fusion, DataSHed, MX DepositExperience logging core and/or managing drill programs (RC and/or diamond).Experience building dashboards or reports for technical and management audiences (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).Experience standardizing data across multiple deposits or operating sites and building a corporate data model.Personal Attributes:Hands-on and pragmatic comfortable working directly with data, drilling into issues, and helping site teams solve real-world problems.
