Position: Arborist (Design & Construction Support)About the RoleContract | Part-Time (Approximately 15 hours/week) Hybrid GTA + Regular Site VisitsResponsibilitiesConduct detailed tree assessments including tree protection, removal recommendations, risk assessments, and replacement planning.Prepare arborist reports, drawings, and technical documentation to support design and permitting activities.Collaborate with landscape architects, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements.Support design development by performing analysis, calculations, and alternative evaluations to determine efficient, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.Prepare or revise arborist-related design drawings using MicroStation (or equivalent).Review and provide input on specifications, design documents, and interdisciplinary deliverables.Participate in quality checks, technical reviews, and coordinated design submissions.Conduct site visits to verify conformance with design standards and regulatory requirements.Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and field conditions; provide technical advice during construction.Maintain accurate as-built documentation and support updates to standards when required. QualificationsMinimum 10 years of arborist experience, including work supporting design, engineering, or construction projects.Registered with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Ontario Chapter membership required.Strong knowledge of tree protection, preservation guidelines, and municipal/provincial forestry regulations.Experience preparing tree assessments, formal arborist reports, and design inputs for infrastructure or land-development projects.Proficiency with MicroStation, plus strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.Ability to conduct fieldwork, site assessments, and visits to active construction locations.Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Work Environment & ExpectationsHybrid role requiring a combination of remote work and regular on-site visits within the Greater Toronto Area.Must be able to attend meetings or site inspections on short notice.Personal protective equipment (PPE) required for site visits; safety footwear must be provided by the consultant.
